“Step: The Contract of Faith”

1 Peter 2:21 – For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps.

2 Samuel 22:37 – Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.

Job 18:7 – The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.

Job 31:4 – Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

Proverbs 16:9 – A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

Steps. A step is the act or movement of putting one leg in front of the other while walking or running.

This morning, I woke early. As is my daily practice, I sat before the throne of GOD—listening for His voice, praising His majesty, and quietly waiting for His guidance. The Holy Spirit whispered: “steps… steps.”

I didn’t understand at first, so I looked up scriptures containing the word steps. As I read and prayed, seeking to understand the message, it became clear:

We run this race trying to finish in our own time and in our own way. We’ve all heard the saying, “Life is not a sprint, but a marathon. "But what does that really mean?

God said: When you are in a place of confusion…When storms rise in your life…When you feel overwhelmed and almost underwater…You must wade in the water.

You cannot run in a storm—the wind is too fierce, and your visibility is too murky. You cannot sprint in high waters—the force will pull you back and toss you around.

You must take steps.

You cannot freeze or become paralyzed, because if you do, you will drown. There must be an act or movement of putting one leg in front of the other. That is where God comes in—God orders our steps.

If you take the leap of faith to lift your leg and move, He will guide and direct you.

Don’t allow fear to stop you from moving. It may feel like you will tumble over…Like your breath has been snatched away…Like you have no safe path to take…

You may feel surrounded by pitfalls and landmines, with chaos covering the road so thickly that one wrong turn seems fatal.

That is the lie of the enemy.

Your steps are more than an act of movement—they are an act of faith.

Your steps acknowledge that you believe you are not alone.

Your steps are your signature on the contract with God.

Your steps execute that contract.

A contract is an agreement between parties.

God says: I agree to be with you always. I agree to lead you into all grace and mercy.

I will never leave nor forsake you.

You agree I trust you, Lord.

A contract must be executed to be valid. Your steps are the faith that seals the contract.

Steps are a critical part of our relationship with the Father. Suddenly, everything made sense.

Wherever you are in life

Whatever you are facing

However, you are feeling

No matter what the enemy is whispering…

Do NOT allow yourself to become stagnant or swallowed by fear.

Trudge through

Keep going.

Push.

Pull.

Take deep breaths.

Rest when needed.

Scream

Cry

Groan.

But keep taking steps.

GOD will meet you in the steps.

And soon, you will find that you have conquered the mountain. The sun will return. The flood will cease. And you will stand on the other side of the trial.

It is miraculous—Right when you thought you would be swept under the current, you reach dry land.

God’s word today is this:

Never give up.

You don’t have to eat the entire loaf of bread at once—but one bite at a time will get the job done.

STEP!
